Job summary

Silverstrand Developments is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Brisbane Head Office on a permanent basis. The role focuses on tendering, cost planning and preparing estimates and submissions for Australian projects.

You will manage tender pricing, BoQs, preliminaries, and risk assessment while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors to drive margins and project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Construction Management or a similar discipline.
• At least 2 years’ experience in civil estimating.
• Experience in commercial construction, quantity surveying or estimating.
• Strong skills with Expert Estimator, Aconex and MS Excel.
• Onsite experience is advantageous.
• Ability to read and dissect drawings and specs.
• Experience in take-offs and measurements.
• Experience in tender process including analysis, procurement, and scheduling.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strong relationships with Clients, Consultants and Sub-Contractors.
• Tender pricing, including rating of Bill of Quantities provided.
• Ensure full scope of work is costed for construction tenders.
• Prepare schedule of preliminaries costs.
• Provide estimating advice and comparative cost advice for alternatives if offered.
• Identify risks and opportunities in design and tender documents and explore alternatives to ensure the target project margin is met or exceeded.
• Review and critically assess estimates provided by subcontractor pricing.
• Take the lead role in the tendering of projects across several industry sectors.
• Preparation of tenders and BoQ's.
• Completion of tender schedules and submission of tenders.
• Submission of RFIs.

Job description

Due to expansive growth in the construction industry and a growing portfolio of work, Silverstrand is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to become a key part in shaping the future of our business alongside an experienced team. You will be based in our Brisbane Head Office and employed on a permanent basis.

About the role:

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the tendering of trades including scopes of work, cost planning, and preparation of estimates, tender pricing and submissions for key projects across Australia.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for, but not limited to the below;

• Maintain strong personable & commercial relationships with Clients, Consultants and Sub-Contractors
• Tender pricing, including rating of any Bill of Quantities provided
• Ensure full scope of work is costed for construction tenders
• Prepare schedule of preliminaries costs
• Provide estimating advice and comparative cost advice for alternatives if offered
• Identify risks and opportunities in design and tender documents and explore alternatives in order to ensure the targeted project margin is met or exceeded
• Review and critically assess estimates provided by subcontractor pricing
• Take the lead role in the tendering of projects across several industry sectors
• Preparation of tenders and BoQ's
• Completion of tender schedules and submission of tenders
• Submission of RFI's

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor Degree in Construction Management or similar discipline preferred
• At least 2 years’ experience in civil estimating
• Solid and proven experience working within commercial construction, quantity surveying or estimating
• Extensive software skills in Expert Estimator, Aconex and MS Excel
• Onsite experience will be considered advantageous
• Ability to read and dissect drawings and specifications
• Ability to complete 1st principal take-off's and measurement
• Experience in all aspects of the tender process including analysis and reporting, procurement of subcontractors and suppliers and programming of works
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
