Job summary

SMEC, a global engineering and development consultancy, invites an Environmental Planning/Environmental Science undergraduate to join the Brisbane team for hands-on experience on major infrastructure projects in renewables, transport and water.

You will work with experienced professionals, contribute to environmental impact assessments and studies, and develop practical skills in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment within a global organisation.

Qualifications

• Currently in third or penultimate year of study in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of environmental impact assessments, approval applications and environmental management plans.
• Support environmental studies, assessments and reporting.
• Contribute to project delivery within multidisciplinary teams.
• Assist with research, data analysis and technical documentation.

The Opportunity

Our high-performing Queensland Environment team is continuing to grow, supported by a strong pipeline of exciting projects across renewables, utilities infrastructure, residential development, Brisbane 2032 Olympics, environmental studies, dams and hydropower, solar energy, energy transition and roads and rail. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Planning or Environmental Science Undergraduate to join our Brisbane team for an immediate start. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience within a leading global consultancy, working alongside experienced environmental professionals on a diverse range of major infrastructure projects.
