Job summary

CivilPlus Constructions, a locally owned civil and marine infrastructure company based in Townsville, is seeking a 3rd or 4th year Bachelor of Civil Engineering student to join our team. This role offers hands-on experience across civil construction projects in North Queensland, working with project managers, engineers and site teams.

You will gain exposure to planning, coordination, documentation, safety, environmental requirements and project reporting while completing your degree.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Engineers with day-to-day delivery of civil construction projects.
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of project plans and documentation.
• Support the preparation of ITPs, work methods and project records.
• Assist with site inspections, quality documentation and construction records.
• Review and develop understanding of drawings, specs and standards.
• Assist with project reporting and document control.

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a motivated 3rd or 4th Year Undergraduate Civil Engineer located in Townsville or the broader North Queensland region to join our team.

This is a great opportunity to gain valuable, hands‑on experience while completing your university studies and develop your engineering career within the civil construction industry.

You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and site teams while gaining exposure to the practical delivery of civil and marine infrastructure projects throughout North Queensland.

About the Role

As an Undergraduate Engineer, you will support our project teams with the planning, coordination and delivery of civil construction projects.

This role is designed to complement your university studies by giving you practical exposure to engineering in a construction environment. You’ll gain experience across project documentation, quality, safety, environmental requirements, construction methodologies, site coordination and project reporting.

You won't just be observing, you'll have the opportunity to get involved, ask questions and develop an understanding of how projects move from plans and specifications through to construction and completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Engineers with the day‑to‑day delivery of civil construction projects.

• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of project plans and documentation.

• Support the preparation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), work methods and project records.

• Assist with site inspections, quality documentation and construction records.

• Review and develop your understanding of construction drawings, specifications and relevant standards.

• Assist with project reporting and document control.

• Support the coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, materials and project resources.

• Attend project and site meetings where required.

• Assist with Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements across projects.

• Gain exposure to contract administration, procurement and project commercial processes.

• Communicate with Engineers, Supervisors and site personnel to support project activities.

• Assist with maintaining CivilPlus' Project and Business Management Systems.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Be currently studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and be in your 3rd or 4th year of study.

• Have a genuine interest in pursuing a career within the civil construction industry.

• Be eager to gain practical, hands‑on engineering and construction experience.

• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Be organized with good attention to detail.

• Have good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office.

• Be willing to learn and take direction from experienced members of the project team.

• Have a proactive attitude and be comfortable asking questions.

• Be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Have strong problem‑solving skills and a willingness to develop your technical knowledge.

• Hold a current Driver Licence.

Location & Availability

This opportunity is open to candidates located in Townsville and the broader North Queensland region.

Due to the practical nature of the role, applicants will need to have suitable availability to attend CivilPlus worksites, offices and operational activities as required.

The position will involve a combination of site‑based and office‑based experience, providing exposure to the day‑to‑day delivery of civil and marine infrastructure projects across North Queensland.

Candidates should hold a current Driver Licence and be comfortable travelling to project locations as required.
