Job summary

Noosa Council is seeking a Tree Supervisor to protect and enhance Noosa’s valued urban forest and public open spaces. In this leadership role, you'll oversee tree management across the shire, providing expert arboricultural advice, supervising field crews and contractors, and helping ensure the health, safety and sustainability of trees on public land.

Based at Noosaville Depot, this full-time permanent role sits in Infrastructure Services.

Qualifications

• Experience in urban tree management, arboriculture and amenity tree care
• Strong knowledge of tree risk assessment, tree physiology, pest and disease identification and arboricultural practices
• Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience within arboriculture or horticulture operations
• Experience applying Australian Standards relating to tree protection and pruning practices
• Well-developed customer service, communication and report writing skills
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and safe work practices
• Experience managing work programs, contractors and service delivery outcomes

Responsibilities

• Conduct tree assessments and provide expert advice on tree health, risk management, maintenance and protection
• Lead and coordinate the work of tree crews and contractors to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality service delivery
• Manage customer enquiries, provide technical reports and assist with resolving complex tree-related issues
• Support the management of Council’s street tree inventory and contribute to planning, reporting and asset management activities

• $102,066 base annual salary
• $115,853 Total Remuneration Package which is based on a full-time employee and inclusive of 12% Employer superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.

About You

You're an experienced arboriculture professional with strong technical knowledge and leadership skills. You enjoy working with people, solving complex tree management issues and balancing community expectations with best-practice arboricultural outcomes. With a strong focus on safety, customer service and environmental stewardship, you're passionate about preserving and enhancing the urban landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct tree assessments and provide expert advice on tree health, risk management, maintenance and protection
• Lead and coordinate the work of tree crews and contractors to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality service delivery
• Manage customer enquiries, provide technical reports and assist with resolving complex tree-related issuesSupport the management of Council’s street tree inventory and contribute to planning, reporting and asset management activities

Skills and Experience

• Experience in urban tree management, arboriculture and amenity tree care
• Strong knowledge of tree risk assessment, tree physiology, pest and disease identification and arboricultural practices
• Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience within arboriculture or horticulture operations
• Experience applying Australian Standards relating to tree protection and pruning practices

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Arboriculture or equivalent recognised qualification
• Significant arboriculture industry experience
• Chainsaw and polesaw certification of competency
• Current C Class driver licence
• Diploma or Certificate V in Arboriculture (desirable)
• Tree risk assessment accreditation and local government experience highly regarded
