Job summary

Urban Utilities in South East Queensland is seeking a Treatment Plant Operator to support the day‑to‑day operation of our Resource Recovery Centres, protecting the environment and public health through reliable wastewater treatment and recycling activities.

You will perform routine tasks, assist with inspections and cleaning under supervision, and follow established procedures to ensure safe operations and high service levels.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and build relationships.
• Interpersonal communication skills with colleagues.
• Foundational understanding of mechanical principles.
• C class driver’s licence.

• Support the operations team via routine allocated tasks to deliver reliable and efficient customer service activities of core wastewater treatment, including the provision of recycled water, off-network waste and co-digestion receivals.
• Carry out simple inspection and cleaning tasks, following instructions and working under direct or indirect supervision to complete the allocated tasks.
• Follow a range of mandatory procedures and methods of work to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others.
• Provide operational support by performing a range of routine activities using existing systems and protocols.
• Carry out operational tasks by following established processes and, for non-routine or abnormal events, escalating to Operators for support.

Urban Utilities is committed to enhancing the livability of our communities across South East Queensland. The Treatment Plant Operator (TPO) plays a crucial role in protecting the environment and public health through the day‑to‑day operation of our Resource Recovery Centres.
