Job summary

Join DCC Industry Group as a permanent part-time Residential Care Worker supporting children and young people with complex needs in Queensland. Qualifications

• Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work or Child, Youth and Family Intervention.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes.
• The ability to remain calm, resilient and professional in challenging situations.
• Experience working with children and young people with complex behaviours, trauma, disability or mental health challenges.
• Experience in supporting young people in Out-Of-Home Care.
• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and LCS Check, or willing to obtain.
• Current Open or P2 Australian Licence.
• Current First Aid and CPR, or willing to obtain.
• National Crime Check, or willing to obtain (DCC funded).
• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) is highly desirable but not essential.
• Availability to work a 24/7 roster including sleepovers.
• Availability and willingness to attend 3 consecutive days of TCI training, for which your time will be compensated.

Responsibilities

• Deliver trauma-informed, person-centred care and therapeutic support.
• Build positive relationships while supporting trust, connection and emotional regulation.
• Assist with personal care, meal preparation, medication administration and maintaining a safe, welcoming home environment.
• Support daily living skills, personal hygiene, social development and independence.
• Transport young people to school, appointments, cultural activities and community engagements.
• Maintain connections to family, Mob and community wherever appropriate.
• Complete accurate documentation to support quality care and compliance.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
• Apply DCC’s intensive model of therapeutic care, "The Trauma Recovery Model", to meet the needs of some of our most vulnerable and high‑risk children and young people.
