Job summary

Life Without Barriers is seeking a dedicated Therapeutic Youth Worker to support young people aged 12 to 17 who’ve experienced trauma in our Sydney programs. You’ll help develop life skills, problem-solving abilities and healthy relationships in a safe, homelike environment within our residential settings.

The role requires availability across a roster including afternoon, overnight sleepovers and weekends.

Qualifications

• Hold or be actively completing a Diploma in Community Services or related field, or hold relevant experience and complete Diploma qualification offered by LWB and willing to be employed on a permanent basis.
• Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate.
• Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced childhood trauma, have a disability and/or display behaviours of concern.
• Understanding the importance of family/kinship connections to children and young people in placement.
• Willingness to assist with activities of daily living, including personal care (if required).
• Able to work a roster including afternoon, overnight (sleepover) and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Support young people aged 12 to 17 who’ve experienced childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect.
• Help them learn independent life skills, develop problem solving skills and build positive relationships.
• Contribute to creating a safe, homelike environment in our residential settings.
