Job summary

Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) in Traralgon is seeking a Therapeutic Residential Care Worker to build nurturing relationships with children and guide healing from trauma. You will support emotional growth, life skills, and cultural development while assisting with daily tasks and transport.

The role requires a Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or willingness to study), First Aid and CPR, and strong written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention required or willing to undertake study as part of employment agreement.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal children with complex needs to support emotional, physical, psychological and cultural development.
• Ability to respond therapeutically to trauma and attachment impacts on children.

Responsibilities

• Engage with children and young people to develop nurturing relationships and promote healing.
• Assist children to deal with trauma-based responses to life.
• Support emotional growth and development of life skills.
• Assist with household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry and transporting children.
• Write case notes, incident reports and reports on the children as required.
