Job summary

Health and Community Services Directorate in Canberra seeks practitioners to support children, young people and families within child protection and youth justice services. You will work with diverse teams to deliver trauma-informed, culturally safe support across the spectrum of care.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Welfare, Social Science or related discipline are essential.
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background is valued and cultural awareness is highly desirable.
• Registration or eligibility related to Working with Vulnerable People and police checks may be required.
• Experience collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people at risk of abuse and neglect within a protective framework.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with community partners and services.
• Engage families across child protection and youth justice pathways from early support to court work.
• Apply trauma-informed, solution-focused case management to assist growth and safety.
