Job summary

Wandiyali’s Aboriginal Family Preservation team, known as Turool Malang, supports Aboriginal children and families in the Newcastle region. The Practitioner delivers culturally safe, trauma-informed services focused on keeping children safe at home and connected to culture, community and country.

Role requires collaboration with internal and external partners, engagement with families, risk assessment and safety planning, and contribution to therapeutic interventions and quality assurance

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology, or related field.
• Experience in child protection or family support services is desirable.
• Demonstrated understanding of transgenerational trauma impacts on children.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive support to families with complex needs.
• Collaborate on development and implementation of therapeutic interventions.
• Contribute to quality assurance processes and interagency relationships.
