Job summary

People Group Recruitment is seeking experienced MC Shunt Drivers and Tug Operators for busy transport operations in Melbourne. Roles involve moving trailers and prime movers around yards, aligning trailers with loading docks, and ensuring safe, efficient movement in a fast-paced environment.

Shifts include early and late AM/PM, with locations in Yarraville and Scoresby. Candidates should have MC experience, finger dock familiarity, and strong knowledge of load restraint and road transport rules.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year MC experience (Tug driving preferred, with finger dock experience)
• Extensive experience with coupling and uncoupling trailers
• Good understanding of load restraint
• High customer service skills, good communication, written and interpersonal skills
• Good knowledge of Chain of Responsibility and road transport legislation
• Mature attitude with the ability to work independently

Responsibilities

• Shunting trailers and prime movers around the yard.
• Reversing and positioning trailers into designated loading docks and bays.
• Connecting and disconnecting trailers as required.
• Maintaining safe vehicle movements and adhering to site procedures.
• Communicating with warehouse and transport teams to coordinate movements.
• Completing vehicle checks and maintaining a safe working environment.
• Assisting with load restraints of freight

About the role

We are seeking experienced MC Shunt Drivers to join a busy transport operation, responsible for moving trailers and prime movers around the yard and positioning trailers into designated loading bays and dock areas. This role is suited to confident drivers who can safely manoeuvre heavy vehicles in a fast-paced environment while supporting efficient warehouse and transport operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Shunting trailers and prime movers around the yard.
• Reversing and positioning trailers into designated loading docks and bays.
• Connecting and disconnecting trailers as required.
• Maintaining safe vehicle movements and adhering to site procedures.

Shifts Available

• Yarraville: 5:00am - 1:00pm
• Yarraville: 12:00pm - 10:00pm
• Scoresby: 5:00am - 1:00pm
• Scoresby: 4:00pm - 12:00am
