Job summary

Mott MacDonald Group in Adelaide is seeking a talented professional to join our growing Systems Engineering & Safety Assurance team. You will apply systems integration expertise across rail and infrastructure projects, contributing to operational readiness and safety.

The role involves developing plans, programs of work, and supporting testing campaigns across diverse clients. You will coordinate testing, validation, and the integration of complex systems to deliver reliable, safe outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with experience managing large, complex projects.
• Experience in integrating complex systems end-to-end across projects.
• Experience in testing and commissioning strategies, prioritising tests and sequencing.
• Understanding of Systems Engineering, V&V, operations and integration roles.

The opportunity

We are looking for talented people from a variety of backgrounds to apply for a role that is focusing on Systems Engineering & Safety Assurance to be a part of our growing team in Adelaide. Our offering is unique - complex projects often struggle to integrate their systems and assets to the existing environment which leads to project delays or poor outcomes.Many of our clients look to us to support them define the frameworks and achieve operational readiness. Our team meets this need through providing projects with expertise in Systems Integration, Testing & Commissioning, Progressive Systems Assurance, and Operations & Maintenance Integration. We work to ensure these projects deliver the best possible outcome for the project, the operator, and the end users.

The role is diverse, and your key responsibility will vary project to project, but you can expect to be performing project-specific Systems Integration duties across a range of clients, which may include:

• Applying technical expertise in rail operations and maintenance to mitigate safety and operational issues, and delivering systems engineering and integration capabilities on complex rail projects.
• Developing plans, programs of work, and supporting the delivery of operational testing (Trial Operations) activities.
• Creating operational readiness and rehearsal plans, processes, and technical systems integration strategies, plans, and roadmaps.
• Working on technical requirements, application conditions, and task definitions from operational and maintenance concepts.
• Developing test plans, test cases, procedures, schedules, and resources for various test campaigns, including lab tests, on-site technical testing, and operational trials.

About you

• Bachelor’s degree with experience in managing large, complex projects, particularly on the right side of the V model.
• Experience in the comprehensive integration of complex systems, from low-level units and subsystems to end-to-end and operational integration.
• Experience of project testing and commissioning strategies, prioritizing and sequencing tests, verifying requirements, and determining personnel and equipment needs.
• Understanding of Systems Engineering principles, including the interplay between operations, systems assurance, safety, verification and validation (V&V), and their roles in integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Proficiency in using and driving IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management is highly desirable.
• Experience in hazard identification and risk management, with specialty or background in RAMS and assurance is highly desirable.
