Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Transport Systems and Assurance Engineer to join our Australian Systems Engineering and Integration team in NSW. The role focuses on coordinating disciplines, delivering systems integration strategies, and supporting operational readiness for rail projects.

You will contribute to complex projects, utilise Systems Engineering concepts, and apply CBTC/ETCS knowledge where applicable, with opportunities to lead testing and commissioning activities across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience delivering large, complex rail projects.
• Experience holistic integration of complex systems from subsystems to end-to-end operations.
• Inclusive leadership style and ability to influence across teams.
• Ability to plan testing/commissioning strategy, priority, sequencing, and resource requirements.
• Keen understanding of Systems Engineering concepts, including operations, safety, V&V with integration and testing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with other disciplines and participate in interdisciplinary market opportunities.
• Develop Systems Integration strategies, plans and roadmaps for project needs.
• Lead Operational Integration and Readiness activities for framework development and validation.
• Define and capture design/test stage and system definitions.
• Develop concepts for Operational, Maintenance and Test activities.

Due to strong growth and an exciting pipeline of projects, we’re excited to invite Expressions of Interest from experienced Engineers inSystems Engineering and Integrationto be a part of our growing Australian Systems Engineering and Integration team in NSW. Our offering is unique - complex projects often struggle to integrate their systems and assets to the existing environment which leads to project delays or poor outcomes. Many of our clients look to us to support them define the frameworks and achieve operational readiness. Our team meets this need through providing projects with expertise in Systems Integration, Progressive Systems Assurance, and Operations & Maintenance Integration. We work to ensure these projects deliver the best possible outcome for the project, the operator, and the end users. You will be joining a diverse and passionate team with a proven track record delivering major projects across Australia. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be invovled in:

Coordinating with other disciplines and activelyparticipatingin interdisciplinarymarket facingbusiness opportunities.

Develop Systems Integration strategies, plans and roadmapsfor project needs.

OperationalIntegrationand Readiness– SME forthe developmentand implementation of Operational Readiness Frameworks. SMEfor the development andimplementationofoperational proving activities (e.g. trial operations, procedure validation). SME for ETCS Operational Integration and interoperabilitybetween technical suppliers.

Operational Safety and Assurance –SMEfor thedevelopment andcaptureof operational safety and assurance arguments.

Stage and Systems Definitions – SMEfor the development and creation ofDesign andTest Stage and Systems Definitions.

Operational, Maintenance and Test Concepts –SME for the development and creation of Operational, Maintenance and Test Concepts.

About You

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with experience in the delivery of large, complex projects, specifically in the right-side of the V.
• Demonstrable experience of holistic integration of complex systems from low-level unit and subsystem up to end-to-end and operational integration.
• An inclusive leadership style
• Ability to take a high-level view of project testing and commissioning strategy, testing priority and sequence, verification of requirements, and personnel and equipment requirements.
• Keen understanding of Systems Engineering concepts, including how broader functions like operations, systems assurance, safety, V&V works with integration, testing and commissioning.
• Ability to use and drive IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management is highly desirable
• Knowledge of CBTC and/or ETCS operation is desirable
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to communicate progress and issues accurately at all levels of the Consultant, Contractor and Client organisation.
• Whilst not mandatory, it is desired that you have experience the delivery, integration and testing of rail systems, and in-depth knowledge of technologies such as CBTC and ETCS.
