Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Bridges & Civil Structures team in Victoria. You will drive design packages, lead a multidisciplinary team, and deliver structural solutions for rail, road, and building projects across Victoria and beyond.

Prospective candidates are Chartered Civil Engineers with RPEV, strong communication skills, and a track record of winning work and delivering projects on time and within budget.

Your Opportunity

Due to an increase in workload across major rail projects in Victoria and interstate, we are recruiting for a lead engineer in the bridges and civil structures team who can drive exceptional project outcomes for our clients. The team you will join is supporting a number of city-shaping projects in Victoria including rail, road, buildings and energy, and you will also have the opportunity to support programs of work in other states around Australia.

In this role you will be responsible for

  • Leading civil structures design packages and providing leadership to the wider civil structures team, including line management.

  • Production of structural designs for civil elements such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls and minor structures.

  • Interpreting design intent sketches provided by the project engineers.

  • Work on a range of both road and rail bridge commissions, ranging from inspection and assessment work to feasibility studies and detailed design. Experience of a range of bridge engineering solutions.
  • Complying with company and project-specific modelling and drawing standards.

  • Leading design packages including design, calculations, report writing, risk assessments, stakeholder engagement and stakeholder engagement.

About you
  • Chartered Civil Engineer (CPEng) with Professional Registration in Victoria (RPEV)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure to meet competing deadlines.

  • Having a willingness to drive bidding for work, either as pursuits or tenders as well as build a network and leverage to increase project opportunities

  • Experience of working in ANZ and particularly the VIC bridge engineering market and involvement in the full project lifecycle, including budget/finance control.

Desireable
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ)

  • RIW competencies for MTM and ARTC

  • Proven credentials in winning work, developing and maintaining client relationships
