Job summary

Randstad is partnering with a family-owned transport and logistics business to recruit a Transport Operations Manager. You will own head office functions including financial management, HR, compliance, and admin, while modernising systems.

You will oversee AP/AR, payroll cycles, and reporting, ensure CoR/WHS compliance, and manage a small administrative team. The role is full-time and onsite with a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an Operations, Office, or Business Management role within the transport/logistics sector.
• Experience with CoR and WHS standards in a fleet environment.
• Hands-on experience with accounting systems (Xero, MYOB) and full-cycle payroll.
• Proven experience managing, developing, and motivating small administrative teams.

Responsibilities

• Review existing administrative workflows and implement modern systems and SOPs to drive efficiency.
• Oversee full-function AP/AR, end-to-end payroll, superannuation, bank reconciliations, and regular financial reporting.
• Drive WHS standards and NHVR CoR compliance, keeping the business audit-ready.
• Assist the owner with client quoting, supplier rate negotiations, and cost control.
• Manage and mentor two administrative staff, including recruitment and employee records.

Reporting directly to the business owners, this is a pivotal, hands-on position designed to support an outgoing partner. As the Transport Operations Manager, you will take full ownership of the head office function-overseeing financial management, HR, compliance, and administration, while actively identifying ways to modernise and streamline business systems. Key Responsibilities:

Review existing administrative workflows and implement modern systems and SOPs to drive overall business efficiency. Oversee full-function AP/AR, end-to-end payroll (weekly/fortnightly), superannuation, bank reconciliations, and regular financial reporting to the owners. Drive Work Health & Safety (WHS) standards and ensure strict adherence to National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Chain of Responsibility (CoR) guidelines, keeping the business audit-ready. Assist the business owner with client quoting, supplier rate negotiations, and cost control. Manage, mentor, and drive performance for two administrative staff, alongside handling end-to-end recruitment and employee records.

Coordinate renewals and administration for fleet, workers' compensation, and liability insurance.

Skills & Experience Required: 5+ years of experience in an Operations, Office, or Business Management role within the transport/logistics sector.

Strong, working familiarity with CoR and WHS standards in a fleet environment. A proactive professional who naturally spots inefficiencies and thrives on building better systems. Hands-on experience with accounting systems (e.g., Xero, MYOB) and full-cycle payroll.

Proven experience managing, developing, and motivating small administrative teams.
