Job summary

MacKellar Group is seeking an experienced Production Mining Trainer & Assessor for our Nyngan, NSW operation. The permanent full-time role includes an 8/6 FIFO roster from Brisbane with accommodation and meals provided.

You will train, coach and assess production operators on mobile mining equipment, conduct inductions, and maintain records to ensure safe, compliant operations. Proven experience and current RII competencies are required.

Job description

MacKellar is seeking an experienced Production Mining Trainer & Assessor to join our growing open cut mining operation at Nyngan, NSW. This is a permanent full-time position on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Brisbane, with accommodation and meals provided.

About the role:

You'll be responsible for delivering practical training, coaching and competency assessments to production operators across a range of mobile mining equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Training and assessing operators on haul trucks, dozers, graders, water trucks, excavators and other mobile equipment
• Conducting inductions, practical assessments and competency-based training
• Delivering refresher training and operator upskilling
• Assessing competency against relevant RII units and site requirements
• Maintaining accurate training and competency records
• Working with supervisors and operational leaders to identify training needs
• Promoting safe, compliant and efficient operating practices

About you:

You'll have proven experience delivering training and assessments within an open cut mining environment, along with:

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - TAE40116 or current equivalent
• Previous experience as a Mining Trainer, Assessor, Production Trainer or similar
• Current RII competencies across mobile mining equipment
• Strong knowledge of open cut mining and production operations
• Excellent communication and coaching skills
• The ability to build rapport with operators at varying experience levels
• A strong commitment to safety, compliance and quality training outcomes
