Job summary

MacKellar Group is seeking experienced Excavator Operators for our Nyngan, NSW operation. In this role you will operate 120T+ excavators to load haul trucks in open-cut mining, following the mine plan with a strong emphasis on safety and machine care.

Qualifications

• Experience operating 120T+ excavators in open-cut mining.
• Proven open-cut mining experience.
• Current RII competencies and/or verifiable operating history.
• Strong knowledge of excavation and truck loading practices.
• Commitment to safety and equipment care.

Responsibilities

• Operate 120T+ excavators and load haul trucks to the mine plan.
• Complete pre-starts and routine inspections.
• Identify and report equipment faults.
• Work with Supervisors and production crews to meet targets.
• Maintain high housekeeping and equipment care.

The Role

As an Excavator Operator, you'll play an important role in delivering safe and productive mining operations.
You'll operate large-scale excavators to efficiently load haul trucks while working to the mine plan and maintaining high standards of safety, productivity and equipment care.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating 120T+ excavators and D9+ dozers
• Loading haul trucks safely and efficiently
• Completing pre-starts and routine equipment inspections
• Identifying and reporting equipment faults
• Working closely with Supervisors and production crews
• Following mine plans, site procedures and operational standards
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and equipment care
• Working safely to achieve daily production targets

What You'll Bring

We're looking for experienced operators with a proven background in open-cut production mining.
You'll have:

• Demonstrated experience operating 120T+ excavators
• Experience operating D9+ dozers
• Proven open-cut mining experience
• Current RII competencies and/or verifiable operating history
• Strong knowledge of excavation and truck loading practices

• Reliable attendance and a positive attitude
• Ability to work effectively as part of a production team
• Flexibility to work a 7/7 rotating day/night roster
