Job summary

Thiess is seeking a site-based trainer to develop and deliver training objectives that meet site and client requirements in the Pilbara region, operating on an 8/6 FIFO roster. You will ensure training programs align with safety, quality, and environmental standards and manage assessment outcomes from start to finish.

You will train operators on heavy mining equipment, maintain accurate documentation, and continuously improve training methods.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy mobile equipment in a mining environment.
• Familiarity with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi and Liebherr mining plant is highly regarded.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to continuous self-improvement.

Responsibilities

• Ensure assessment activity complies with validity, fairness, reliability, flexibility, authenticity, currency.
• Make determinations on achievement of assessment outcomes per package requirements.
• Maintain integrity of assessments and results.
• Develop retraining plans for underperforming trainees.
• Attend to detail when completing forms and documentation.
• Ensure assessment documentation is handed to Training Coordinator after completion.
• Implement all training programs within the component to satisfy quality, safety and environment requirements.
• Assist trainees in knowledge of operating procedures for the equipment being trained on.
• Conduct training activities and assessments for operators as required.
• Take responsibility for the trainee and actions during training.

Job description

This will be a site based role whereby you will be responsible for creating plans and delivering site training objectives ensuring they are relevant and compliant to site and client requirements

Located in the Pilbara on an 8/6 FIFO roster, you will thrive on meeting all goals and challenges, and act with fairness and integrity in all that you do.

In this role, you will;

• Ensuring that the assessment activity complies with the principles of assessment (validity, fairness, reliability, flexibility, authenticity, currency)
• Making determinations regarding the achievement of the assessment outcomes in accordance with the assessment package requirements
• Maintaining the integrity of assessments and results
• Developing retraining plans for those who do not achieve the required result during the assessment activity
• Have attention to detail when completing forms and documentation
• Ensuring the assessment documentation is passed onto the Training Coordinator as soon as the assessment is completed
• Implement all training programs within their competency so that production quality, training, safety, health and environment requirements are satisfied
• Assist the trainee in the knowledge of all of the Operating Procedures for the item of plant they are training on
• Perform training activities and assessments for operators as required
• Take responsibility for the trainee and actions while training

About you

• Previous experience operating heavy mobile equipment in a mining environment
• Specific experience operating Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi and Liebherr mining plant will be highly regarded
