Job summary

Gold Fields at the St Ives Mine Site in Western Australia is offering a 12 month fixed term contract for a Process Operator-in-training role within the processing plant. You will learn to run crushers, mills, leach tanks, and control room operations under supervision, operating IT loaders, Bobcats and forklifts with safety at the core.

This FIFO roster (8 days on, 6 off, 7 nights on, 7 off) supports work–life balance, with up to six months’ company accommodation for eligible new hires relocating

Qualifications

• Current Driver’s Licence (manual C class preferred).
• Good fitness level to handle manual work and heights.
• Willingness to operate and learn around heavy machinery across shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operating plant areas such as crushers, mills, leach tanks and control room operations.
• Learn to operate and maintain mobile equipment (IT loaders, Bobcats, forklifts) and collect slurry samples.
• Support maintenance during shutdowns and participate in safety discussions for a strong safety culture.

This role is offered on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract on an 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off, roster. This opportunity is open to Kambalda or Kalgoorlie residents only. Up to six months’ free, company‑provided accommodation may be available for eligible candidates from under‑represent‑ed groups (for example, women in mining and Indigenous Australians) relocating to Kambalda for permanent roles. Accommodation includes basic furnishings and utilities and is subject to availability and housing policy, with support available to assist with transitioning to a lease after the initial six‑month period. Eligibility and final terms will be discussed during the recruitment process.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll buddy up with an experienced team of Process Operators to learn how to run different areas of the plant safely — from crushers and mills to leach tanks, elution, and control room operations. You’ll learn to operate and maintain machinery such as IT loaders, Bobcats, and forklifts, take slurry samples, and work safely with hazardous reagents and chemicals. You’ll also get hands‑on experience assisting with maintenance during shutdowns, plant cleaning, computer data entry (training provided) whilst participating in safety discussions to support a strong safety culture. The role involves working in all‑weather elements, manual work and lifting, and working at heights so a good level of fitness is important.

What You’ll Bring

• A genuine passion for learning and a can‑do attitude.
• Experience with mobile equipment or labour‑intensive work advantageous.
• Current Driver’s Licence (manual C class preferred).
• Strong teamwork, communication and basic computer skills.
