Job summary

North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation in Mackay is seeking a Trainee Marine Pilot to join our busy Pilotage team at Hay Point. This permanent, full-time role offers a structured mentoring and a competency-based training program for a high-quality marine professional.

Reporting to the Manager Pilot Services, you will conduct safe pilotage using ship handling skills and port knowledge while developing technical skills in the marine industry.

Qualifications

• AMSA/MNZ Master Unlimited Certificate of Competency (or equivalent).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain MSIC.
• Experience as a mariner with ship handling as C/O or Master is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills aligned to NQBP values.
• Willing to relocate to Mackay or surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safe and efficient pilotage of vessels in the Port of Hay Point.
• Utilise high level ship handling skills, port knowledge and maritime experience.
• Work within fatigue management and other regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Pilotage team and report to the Manager Pilot Services.
