Job summary

WGA seeks a committed Trainee Drafter to join our Newcastle team, offering hands-on drafting experience in civil and structural design with structured training and mentorship beginning February 2027 to align with the TAFE NSW Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting course.

You will complete hands-on drafting tasks, learn from experienced engineers, and contribute to infrastructure projects across WGA’s markets while combining study time with practical, on-the-job experience.

Qualifications

• Year 12 completion in 2026 or recent school leaver
• Interest in civil and structural drafting and pursuing MEM40422 certificate
• Curiosity and willingness to learn new drafting technologies
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Assist with hands-on drafting tasks across civil and structural projects
• Learn from experienced engineers and designers through mentoring
• Participate in training and receive feedback to build capability
• Support project delivery for infrastructure and building works
