Job summary

CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut is seeking a proactive Trades Assistant to support trailer service teams across multiple brands. You will assist technicians with repairs, greasing, and inspections, while maintaining documentation and WHS standards.

A rotating Saturday roster applies, with above-award pay and tool allowance. Experience with automotive trailers and use of handheld/power tools is preferred; an HC/HR licence would be an advantage though not essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Trades Assistant in the automotive industry.
• Ability to deliver high-quality workmanship.
• Experience using handheld power tools and air tools.
• Ability to work unsupervised and within a team.
• HC or HR licence would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist technicians with trailers services and repairs; grease chassis, inspect steering, suspension and brakes.
• Remove wheels, repack bearings, adjust brakes; replace worn parts.
• Repair or replace damaged parts incl. brakes, tires and suspension.
• Perform welding and fabrication as needed.
• Complete service sheets and job-related documents.
• Work a rotating Saturday roster; maintain WHS standards.

About the role

As a result of exciting growth within our service departments, we are looking to add an enthusiastic and driven individual to our Trailer Service Team working with multiple brands and types of trailers.

This role is based at the TR Group (Laverton North) where the service department is managed by CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut on a contractor’s site.

Duties and responsibilities

• – Assist technicians in the services and repairs on trailers including greasing chassis, inspection of steering, suspension and braking componentry


• – Removal of wheels, repacking and adjusting wheel bearings, replacement or adjustment of brakes


• – Repair or replace damaged or worn parts including brakes, tires and suspension components


• – Perform welding and fabrication work as needed


• – Completion of service sheets and other job-related documents


• – Ability to work a rotating Saturday roster


• – Ensure WHS standards are upheld and work environment kept organised and tidy

Skills and experience

• – Demonstrated experience as a Trades Assistant or similar in the automotive industry


• – Demonstrated ability to produce high quality workmanship


• – Experience using a range of handheld power tools and air tools


• – Ability to work unsupervised and within a dynamic team


• – Current HC or HR drivers licence would be an advantage but not essential
