Job summary

Freighter Group in Melbourne's Brooklyn facility is seeking two qualified Fabricators, Welders (Boilermakers), or Vehicle Body Builders to apply their fabrication and welding skills with one of Australia's most respected trailer manufacturers. Join our team at our Brooklyn facility.

You will fabricate, assemble, modify, repair and maintain transport equipment and vehicle bodies to the highest standards of safety and quality while working in a supportive team environment with competitive pay

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Fabrication, Welding (Boilermaking) or Vehicle Body Building.
• Strong welding and fabrication skills and ability to read technical drawings.
• Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, fit and repair truck, trailer and transport bodies to specification.
• Perform cutting, bending, welding, assembly and finishing tasks.
• Fabricate and weld steel, aluminium and stainless components.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and job orders.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with standards.

Your Role: Build Quality and Deliver Excellence

As a Qualified Fabricator, Welder, or Vehicle Body Builder, you will be responsible for manufacturing, assembling, modifying, repairing, and maintaining transport equipment and vehicle bodies to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, fit, and repair truck, trailer, and transport bodies to specification.
• Perform cutting, bending, welding, assembly, and finishing activities.
• Fabricate and weld steel, aluminium, and stainless-steel components.
• Modify, repair, and maintain vehicle bodies, trailers, and accessories.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and job orders.
• Ensure all work complies with quality, design, and safety standards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and a safe, clean work environment.
• Contribute to the manufacture of Australia's market-leading semi-trailers.

Who We Are Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Trade qualification in Fabrication, Welding (Boilermaking), Vehicle Body Building, or equivalent.
• Strong welding, fabrication, and metalworking skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork.
• Positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Current driver's licence and reliable transport.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Available to commence full-time employment immediately.
