We have built a strong reputation for delivering safe, compliant and dependable traffic management services across civil construction, utilities, local government, infrastructure, events and major projects, supported by experienced personnel, modern equipment and strong operational systems.

We are a VicRoads-accredited Traffic Management provider operating across Road Categories 1, 2 and 3, with works spanning Greater Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast, Colac Otway, Golden Plains, Ballarat, Moorabool, Hepburn, Central Goldfields, Ararat, Horsham, the Wimmera and surrounding regional areas across Western and South West Victoria.

As the business continues to grow, we are strengthening our planning team and are seeking Traffic Management Designers (Planners) across Junior, Experienced and Senior levels, with responsibilities and remuneration aligned with skills, experience and capability.

About the Role

We are seeking Traffic Management Designers (Planners) across multiple experience levels to support the growing planning function at Barwon Traffic Management.

We are open to applications from Junior, Experienced and Senior Traffic Management Planners, with the responsibilities, level of autonomy and remuneration tailored to the successful applicant’s experience and capability.

Whether you are an experienced Senior Planner looking to take on greater responsibility, an established Planner confident in managing day-to-day planning requirements, or a Junior Planner looking to develop your skills and build a career in traffic management planning, we encourage you to apply.

These are key operational roles responsible for ensuring Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGSs), permits and approvals are prepared accurately, compliantly and within required timeframes to support safe and efficient project delivery.

You will work closely with the Operations and Planning teams to support project planning across civil construction, utilities, local government and event works. Depending on your experience, the role may involve independently managing complex planning requirements or working alongside experienced team members while developing your technical capability.

These positions are critical to ensuring projects are planned correctly, risks are identified early, and the business maintains the capacity to deliver reliable and compliant traffic management services as workloads grow.

Remuneration will be based on skills, qualifications and experience and is negotiable for the right candidates.

Key Responsibilities

As Planner, you will:

  • Prepare and review Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGSs) to ensure they are accurate, compliant and suitable for operational delivery across a range of project types.

  • Interpret client scopes, drawings and site information to develop safe, practical and compliant traffic management methodologies.

  • Manage permits, approvals and planning documentation so that jobs are fully prepared and ready for delivery ahead of scheduled start dates.

  • Work closely with the Depot Manager and Planning team to support project planning, including staging, sequencing, resourcing assumptions and operational constraints.

  • Act as the primary planning contact for internal teams, clients and road authorities, providing clear and professional communication.

  • Monitor planning timelines and approval requirements to ensure documentation is completed within required timeframes.

  • Identify planning risks, scope gaps or compliance concerns early and elevate where required to minimise operational disruption.

  • Maintain planning templates, documentation standards and workflows to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes to support operational efficiency and scalability.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in traffic management planning or a similar civil or construction planning role, with the ability to manage planning tasks independently.

  • A strong understanding of TMP and TGS development, including how plans translate into practical and safe on-road implementation.

  • Confidence using planning and operational systems, with experience in Invarion and Traffio highly regarded.

  • Working knowledge of relevant traffic management standards, codes of practice and compliant work methodologies.

  • High attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate, structured and professional planning documentation.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple jobs and competing deadlines.

  • Clear and professional communication skills when working with clients, road authorities and internal operational teams.

  • A proactive and solutions-focused mindset with the ability to anticipate issues and develop practical planning outcomes.

What We Offer
  • A key technical role within a well-established and growing regional traffic management business with a strong reputation for safety and reliability.

  • A competitive salary package aligned with your experience, technical capability and level of responsibility.

  • Stable, ongoing work supported by long-term relationships with councils, contractors and infrastructure clients.

  • Exposure to a diverse range of projects across civil construction, utilities, infrastructure and events.

  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities to support your technical and career growth.
