Job summary

Susquehanna is expanding its Sydney team with a Trader Desk Associate role, working closely with traders to ensure accurate positions, P&L and smooth execution on a fast-moving desk.

You will gain exposure to trading systems, algorithmic tools, and automation initiatives, with strong opportunities to learn about front-office technology and market microstructure. A solid Excel base and Python/SQL knowledge are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Strong technical skills and curiosity for fast-paced trading environments.
• Proficiency in Excel; Python/SQL is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of equities or equity derivatives or a solid foundation with quick learning.
• Finance coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

Susquehanna is growing across APAC, and we're expanding our Sydney team with a Trader Desk Associate. This role sits at the heart of our trading operation, supporting traders and ensuring our desks run with accuracy, speed, and control.

As a Trader Desk Associate, you will work closely with traders and the broader market - handling key operational tasks, maintaining accurate positions and P&L, and ensuring smooth execution and communication. You will also gain exposure to trading systems, algorithmic tools, and automation initiatives. This role offers strong learning opportunities and direct insight into a fast-paced trading environment.

What You Will Do

• Reconcile trades, transactions, and positions
• Prepare and submit delivery instructions for proprietary trading
• Maintain positions, P&L, and real-time desk information
• Support operational processes to meet regulatory and exchange requirements

• Update and maintain trading systems, proprietary applications, and Excel tools

You will bring

• Strong technical skills - proficiency in Excel; experience with Python or SQL is a strong plus
• Interest in automation and improving front-office processes through technology
• Knowledge of equities and equity derivatives, or proven solid foundation with ability to learn quickly
• Previous financial services experience and completion of finance or investment-related coursework (preferred)
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
• A self-starter mindset - quick learner, resourceful, proactive
• A reliable, positive, flexible team approach, including the ability to adapt working hours over time to support APAC Options desks
