Qualifications

• Valid qualifications or apprenticeship completion in painting and decorating or a related building trade.
• Proven painting experience with a portfolio demonstrating skills and quality of work.
• Strong knowledge of painting techniques, finishes and materials for various surfaces.
• Proficiency with painting equipment including spray guns, rollers and brushes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, filling and priming walls, ceilings, and other structures
• Apply paint, varnish, stain and finishes using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other tools
• Mix and match paint colours to meet client specifications and project requirements
• Inspect and maintain painting equipment, ensuring tools are clean, properly maintained and safe to use
• Follow health and safety protocols and comply with relevant building regulations and standards
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients and team members regarding project progress and any issues that arise
• Manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines whilst maintaining high-quality workmanship
• Document work completed, including materials used and hours spent on each project
• Identify potential problems during painting and implement appropriate solutions

What we’re looking for

• Valid qualifications or apprenticeship completion in painting and decorating or a related building trade
• Proven experience as a painter, with a portfolio demonstrating your technical skills and quality of work
• Strong knowledge of different painting techniques, finishes, and materials suitable for various surfaces
• Proficiency with painting equipment, including spray guns, rollers, brushes and associated tools
• Ability to read and interpret project specifications, plans and technical drawings
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality finishes
• Physical fitness and ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and in various weather conditions
• Valid driver's licence and reliable transport to project sites
• Strong work ethic, reliability and punctuality
• Current understanding of workplace health and safety requirements in the building industry
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with commercial or industrial painting projects is highly desirable
