Job summary

Qualifications

• General knowledge of plant and equipment.
• Capable of undergoing medical including drug and alcohol screening.
• Valid HR licence or higher is required.
• High Risk Work Licence for forklift and related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection, test and maintenance of equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support with delivery, offloading, inspection, storage and collection of plant components.
• Help track hired equipment and keep yard and facilities organized.
• Participate in safety meetings and complete site documentation (timesheets, cards).
• Work as part of a small team on planned and reactive maintenance for road, civil and rail plant.

About the role We are currently taking applications for a Trades Assistant within our Welshpool Plant Maintenance Facility and field maintenance team. We are seeking a reliable and motivated candidate to assist in undertaking quality maintenance, repairs and improvement and is looking for a long-term career in a rapidly growing industry. Responsibilities of the role include:

• Work under and take instruction from Supervisors and Trades persons, following JHG safety process
• Assist with the inspection, test and maintenance of equipment, in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner.
• Assist with delivery, offloading, inspection, storage, timely off-hiring and collection of plant and heavy components
• Assist with the tracking and accountability of hired equipment.
• Cleaning and washing of plant, equipment and assemblies.
• Taking ownership of the yard and facilities for organisation and staging of equipment in conjunction with the workshop supervisor
• Keeping yard and facilities neat, tidy and safe
• Work as part of a small team to carry out all aspects of the planned and reactive maintenance on road, civil and rail plant and occasional emergency works at short notice
• Following JHG reporting process for equipment faults and hazards
• Actively participate in daily prestart meetings, fortnightly toolbox meetings and ongoing work place safety inspections
• Completion of daily timesheets, start cards, hazard cards and pre-lift cards
• Willing to participate in agreed over time including the occasional Saturdays

What we are looking for:

• General Knowledge of plant and equipment
• Physically fit and able to pass Cat 1 medical including drug and alcohol screening
• HR drivers' licence or above
• High Risk Work Licence for forklift, VLC (hiab), CN all-terrain crane, Dogging and Rigging

Ideal but not required:

• Senior first aid and CPR
• EWP and Scissor lift high risk work licence
• Working at heights qualification
• White card
• RIW card and network inductions for ARC and PTA
