Job summary

Talent Focus is recruiting for an ongoing Field Tank Installer / Trades Assistant in Glendenning. The role is hands-on, field-based and involves assembling, installing and commissioning large steel storage tanks.

You will travel interstate for project work, often 2–3 weeks away, with allowances from the client and ample overtime. The base rate starts at $41 per hour for qualified candidates, with early starts around 6:30–7:00am.

Job description

I’m currently recruiting for an ongoing Field Tank Installer / Trade Assistant opportunity with our reputable client, based in Glendenning.

They are an established company that designs, manufactures and installs large steel bolted liquid storage tanks across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. Their projects cover areas such as municipal water, fire protection, industrial and wastewater, building services, agriculture, power and mining.

The position is primarily field-based, so you're travelling out to customer sites to help construct, install and commission large steel storage tanks. You’ll be working as part of an installation crew and getting hands‑on with the construction and assembly of the tanks.

Day‑to‑day, you'll be involved in things like:

• Assembling and installing steel bolted storage tanks
• Working with large numbers of bolts and mechanical fixings
• Carrying and positioning sheet metal and tank components
• Using hand and power tools
• Assisting with tank construction, installation and commissioning
• General site‑based fitting and assembly work
• Assisting with inspections, servicing and repairs where required
• Potential refurbishment work, including liner and roof replacements, nozzle change‑outs, panel replacement, ladders and platform installations and other tank repairs.
• Working safely around elevated work areas and confined spaces

Field Tank Installer / Trades Assistant

The big thing with this role is that it is very hands‑on and physical. There is a fair amount of manual handling, climbing, working at heights and working with tools, so we're looking for someone who is physically fit, practical and comfortable working outdoors and on construction sites.

Travel

There is quite a bit of interstate travel involved. You could be away for approximately 2–3 weeks at a time, depending on the project.
The travel side can be a real benefit if you're someone who enjoys getting out of the workshop and seeing different parts of the country.
You'll receive:

• $65 per day Living Away From Home Allowance
• $26 per day travel allowance
• Plenty of opportunity for overtime and Saturday work
• Early starts, generally around 6:30am–7:00am

Pay

The base rate is $41 per hour for candidates who hold the required tickets.

• Willingness to travel and work away from home for extended periods
• A practical, hands‑on attitude

You don't necessarily need previous tank installation experience. We're open to people from mechanical fitting, construction, steel erection, boilermaking, fabrication, maintenance or similar hands‑on backgrounds who are looking to get into a specialised installation role.

The role is initially casual ongoing, with a genuine opportunity to move into a permanent position for the right person.

It's a good opportunity for someone who wants consistent work, plenty of overtime, interstate travel and the chance to develop specialised experience in the installation, servicing and refurbishment of large‑scale liquid storage tanks.

They also has a dedicated service and maintenance division, so there is exposure to ongoing inspection, maintenance and refurbishment work as well as new installations.
