Job summary

Downer Energy & Utilities invites applications for Electrical Trade Assistants to join the Belrose project on Sydney's northern beaches. You will work in a small team on brownfield HV substations, covering primary HV and secondary systems, including switchgear and control panels.

The role is on a 5/2 roster with a strong safety focus and ongoing training, mentoring, and management support. We value a hands-on mindset and commitment to Zero Harm.

Qualifications

• Construction White Card and valid driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Support HV/LV cable installations, including trays and terminations.
• Assist with primary HV and secondary systems installation (switchgear, isolators, transformers, control panels).
• Contribute to safety culture and maintain site housekeeping.
• Work on brownfield construction of HV switchyards on a 5/2 roster.

About the Role

We currently have opportunities for Electrical Trade Assistants to join our Energy & Utilities team, working on the construction of HV switchyards at our Belrose project in Sydney's northern beaches region. As part of a small, skilled team, you'll be involved in brownfield works on transmission substations, covering both primary HV and secondary systems. This role is based on a 5/2 roster.

About You

We're looking for motivated individuals with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety. The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working in HV substation environments
• Ability to assist with HV/LV cable installations, including cable trays and terminations
• Hands-on experience with primary HV and secondary systems installation, including switchgear, isolators, transformers, and control panels
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Willingness to assist with general site housekeeping as required
• Competency in operating, maintaining, and working safely with hand tools, small plant, and mobile equipment
• A strong commitment to Zero Harm and safety-first practices

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

• Construction White Card
• Valid driver's licence
• LVR/CPR competency (not essential but willingness to obtain is required)
• Current Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications
• High Risk Work (HRW) licence - EWP and/or Forklift
