Job summary

Hazell Bros Group in Hobart is seeking a hands-on workshop assistant to support qualified mechanics with servicing and maintenance of heavy vehicles. The role involves general workshop duties, preparing vehicles and parts, and helping ensure a clean, safe work environment.

You will work across the Hobart site, including workshop, shipping and wharf areas, collaborating with the team and following safety procedures to deliver quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• A current High Risk Work Licence – Forklift (LF).
• A current White Card.
• Previous workshop or mechanical experience is preferred, but not essential.
• A strong work ethic, attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• The ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively within a team and use initiative when required.

Responsibilities

• Assisting qualified mechanics with servicing, repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles.
• Carrying out general workshop duties, including cleaning, handling and collecting parts, and maintaining tools.
• Preparing vehicles, components and work areas for mechanical work.
• Carrying out basic mechanical tasks and general labouring duties.
• Cleaning plant and machinery.
• Working across the Hobart site, including workshop, shipping and wharf areas.
• Working effectively as part of a team, following instructions and showing initiative when required.
• Following all safety procedures and quality standards.

The ROLE

• Haul truck, loader, skid steer and Test & Repair tickets would be advantageous.
• Previous workshop or mechanical experience is preferred, but not essential.
• A strong work ethic, attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• The ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively within a team and use initiative when required.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• A strong commitment to safe work practices.
