Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice seeks a Tradesperson – Laundry Operations at Mid North Coast Correctional Centre. The role combines hands-on laundry trade work with leadership to mentor inmates, helping them gain practical skills for rehabilitation and future employment.

You will coordinate daily operations, drive productivity, and ensure WHS, quality and customer service standards are met, while developing the next generation of skilled workers in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate III in Laundry Operations or willingness to obtain within CSNSW timeframe.
• Post-trade experience demonstrating ability to apply skills in a diverse operational environment.
• Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or willingness to obtain within CSNSW timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and supervise inmates, passing on trade skills to build confidence and employability.
• Perform hands-on trade work while providing leadership and coaching.
• Deliver on-the-job training and contribute to programs preparing inmates for employment and reintegration.
• Manage workshop tools, equipment and resources to maintain a safe, organized workplace compliant with WHS and quality standards.
