Job summary

Corrective Services NSW is seeking a Tradesperson – Hygiene/Cleaning Operations for Long Bay Hospital and the Long Bay Correctional Complex in Matraville, NSW. The role blends hands-on hygiene work with leadership, mentoring inmates to build practical skills and future employment opportunities.

You will oversee daily operations, drive productivity, and ensure compliance with WHS and quality standards while contributing to rehabilitation and safe, efficient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Hygiene Operations, Cleaning Operations, Horticulture or related trades.
• Proven post-trade experience in a diverse operational environment.
• Current Driver Licence and willingness to travel as part of this role.
• Experience supervising and coaching a lower-skilled workforce.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise inmates, passing on trade skills to build employment prospects.
• Combine hands-on trade work with leadership and coaching for rehabilitation.
• Deliver on‑the‑job training and contribute to programs aiding reintegration.
• Own the workshop, manage tools and resources, and maintain WHS standards.
