Job summary

NSW Health is seeking a practical Handyman / Maintenance Assistant to join the Tamworth Hospital Maintenance Team. You will upkeep gardens and grounds around the new Mental Health Unit and assist tradespeople with a range of general maintenance tasks across the hospital.

You don’t need formal trade qualifications—just practical handyman skills and gardening experience, with a hands-on approach and a commitment to safety in a hospital environment. Flexible work arrangements offered.

Qualifications

• General handyman skills and gardening experience.
• Hands-on, practical approach with reliability.
• Willing to learn new skills and undertake training where required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain gardens and grounds to a safe, presentable standard.
• Assist with general handyman and maintenance tasks.
• Support tradespeople as required.
• Transport furniture, equipment and other items within the hospital.
• Carry out planned and routine maintenance activities.
• Maintain buildings, plant and equipment in good condition.
• Support the Engineering and Maintenance Department to ensure safe operation.
