PSC invites motivated individuals to begin a telecommunications career in Adelaide, learning hands-on alongside experienced technicians. The role involves assisting with assembly, cabling, testing and on-site support, with opportunities to travel to client sites and develop toward technician roles.
This entry pathway emphasizes practical experience, safety, and practical skills in fibre, copper cabling, and telecommunications equipment, with mentorship and progression opportunities over time.
Join PSC’s Adelaide team and start building a career in telecommunications, networking and technology.
As a Trade Assistant – Telecommunications & Networking, you’ll learn alongside experienced technical professionals, get hands‑on with real equipment and projects, and develop skills that can take you toward a future Technician career.
If you’re practical, curious about technology and keen to build a career rather than just find your next job, this could be your opportunity.
This is a hands‑on role where you’ll learn by getting involved.
One day you might be in the workshop helping assemble equipment, racks and communications panels. Another could see you preparing equipment for a project, assisting cabling installation, testing and commissioning, labelling equipment or supporting Technicians on site.
As you build your experience, you’ll get exposure to fibre and copper cabling, telecommunications equipment, testing, commissioning and fault finding. You’ll also start learning how to read technical drawings, complete project documentation and understand the quality and safety standards behind the work.
There’ll be opportunities to travel to client sites and occasionally work away from home, giving you exposure to different projects, environments and people.
We’re interested in someone who is keen to learn, reliable and enjoys working with their hands.
Maybe you’ve completed some technical training, started a Certificate I, II or III, worked as a Trade Assistant, or simply gained practical experience around telecommunications, electronics, networking, electrical or communications work.
You’ll be comfortable using tools, following instructions and working safely. Most importantly, you’ll bring curiosity, attention to detail and the willingness to ask questions, learn from experienced people and take on more as your capability grows.
You’ll need a current Australian Driver’s Licence, full Australian working rights and a White Card, or the ability to obtain one.
Any telecommunications, fibre, structured cabling, First Aid, Working at Heights, Open Cabling or similar training you already have will be an advantage, but we don’t expect you to arrive with everything. The role has been positioned as an entry pathway where existing skills can be assessed and developed further.
This is about more than your first role with us.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills through practical experience, mentoring, training and exposure to real projects. As you become more capable and confident, there’s room to take on greater technical responsibility and work towards Technician opportunities over time.
Be part of a team that values individual contributions and fosters a respectful, results‑driven culture. PSC encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and offers flexibility to support work‑life balance. You’ll have autonomy in your role, opportunities for growth, and collaborate with a global network of professionals.
