Job summary

D&T Hydraulics is a local family-owned cylinder repair and manufacturing business in Mackay. We are seeking reliable Trades Assistants to support our tradespeople across day, afternoon and night shifts, offering flexible hours and a stable role.

You will gain hands-on workshop experience assisting with prep, handling components, and maintaining an efficient workspace while learning from a professional team that prioritizes quality, safety and the environment.

Qualifications

• High Risk Work Licence for Forklift and/or Overhead Crane (essential).
• Knowledge of blasting equipment operation, maintenance and cleaning (desirable).
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Current driver’s licence and reliable transport.

Responsibilities

• Operate sandblasting equipment and prepare components for repair and coating processes.
• Prepare, handle, and move materials and components in the workshop.
• Operate workshop equipment (forklifts/cranes where licensed).
• Assist with loading/unloading and manual handling tasks.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized workspace and follow all safety procedures.

About the Role

In this hands‑on role, you will assist with a range of workshop duties to support our tradespeople in their day‑to‑day tasks. Working under direction, you’ll help ensure jobs are completed efficiently by preparing materials, handling components, and maintaining a clean and organised workspace. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to a busy workshop environment and build practical skills.
