Job summary

BGIS Technical Trade Services in Sydney is seeking a hands-on Trade Assistant to join our on-site maintenance and facilities team. You’ll assist with a range of general maintenance tasks, support tradespeople, and help keep client facilities safe and well‑maintained.

You’ll be involved in painting, tiling, carpentry and basic plumbing, with a focus on safe work practices and reliable service. Full-time, permanent employment with growth opportunities is on offer.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Trade Assistant, Handyperson, maintenance or similar hands‑on role.
• Experience within a building, facilities management, construction or maintenance environment is highly regarded.
• Practical experience across general repairs, painting, tiling, carpentry or basic plumbing is desirable.
• Good practical problem‑solving skills and a willingness to get involved across a variety of tasks.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities and maintenance requirements.
• Full working rights in Australia essential.
• National Police Check may be required as part of recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general maintenance and repairs across client facilities.
• Support qualified tradespeople with planned, preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
• Carry out maintenance tasks within your skills and experience, including general repairs, painting, tiling, basic carpentry and plumbing.
• Assist with maintenance planning and the completion of service documentation and work records.
• Identify and report hazards, incidents and maintenance issues.
• Work safely and in accordance with OHS, environmental and quality requirements.
• Work with subcontractors, suppliers and other team members to support service delivery.
• Build positive relationships with clients and provide professional, responsive service.
• Support facilities and maintenance teams with day-to-day operational requirements

The Role

We’re seeking a hands-on and reliable Trade Assistant to join our Technical Trade Services team in Sydney. This is a varied role supporting the delivery of maintenance and repair services across our client sites, working alongside experienced tradespeople and facilities teams. You’ll assist with a range of general maintenance activities, while supporting preventative and corrective maintenance. You’ll also help ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

What You’ll Be Doing

Assist with general maintenance and repairs across client facilities
