Job summary

Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing in Bathurst NSW seeks an experienced Track Manager to oversee the racecourse and training facilities. You will lead a small ground staff, manage the racetrack and training surfaces, and work with trainers to uphold premier track standards for racing and trackwork.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will implement maintenance programs, ensure safety compliance, and plan annual improvement initiatives to enhance Bathurst’s racing infrastructure and community

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of race day and training track maintenance and preparation procedures.
• Ability to implement effective work systems to meet quality standards within budget.
• Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety requirements and codes.
• Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and operate required machinery.
• Experience developing and implementing track maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the racecourse and training facilities.
• Manage and maintain racetrack, training tracks and associated facilities to high standards.
• Lead and support a small team of ground staff.
• Collaborate with trainers and industry stakeholders at the training centre.
• Implement industry standards for track and facility preparation.
• Prepare an optimum racing surface to attract top class horses to meetings.
• Ensure plant and equipment are well maintained for optimum performance.
• Develop and manage an annual maintenance plan for watering, fertilizing, mowing and gardens.

Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing is seeking an experienced and motivated Track Manager.

Located in the heart of the Central West, Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing has a proud history of country racing and community engagement. For generations, the club has hosted race meetings while providing high-quality training facilities. With a strong reputation for hospitality, well-maintained racing infrastructure, and vibrant race day events, the club plays an important role in the region’s sporting and social calendar.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager the Racecourse Manager is responsible for ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of the Bathurst Racecourse, training tracksand associated facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the racecourse and training facilities.
• Manage and maintain the racetrack, training tracks, and associated training facilities to ensure the highest standards for racing and trackwork
• Lead and support a small team of ground staff.
• Work closely with trainers and other industry stakeholders using the training centre.
• Implement industry standards for the preparation of training and racing tracks and facilities.
• Prepare an optimum racing surface for the attraction of the best possible class of horses to all race meetings.
• Ensure that all associated plant and equipment are well maintained and in the best possible condition to achieve optimum performance.
• Develop and manage an annual racecourse maintenance plan detailing programs for track watering, fertilizing, mowing and gardens.

About You

• A thorough knowledge of race day & training track maintenance & preparation procedures.
• Ability to implement effective work systems to agreed quality standards and within operational and budgetary controls.
• Good understanding of the requirements and practical applications of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and codes
• Ability to work independently and be self motivated
• Ability to operate required machinery including turf maintenance equipment
• Experience in developing and implementing track maintenance programs
• Ability to communicate with a wide variety of people
