Job summary

John Holland Pty Ltd, in partnership with Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia, is delivering the Torrens to Darlington Alliance’s 10.5km project in Adelaide. We seek a Testing & Commissioning Fire Lead to drive safe, progressive handover of fire protection systems for the T2D project.

You will lead testing, commissioning and handover activities across multiple disciplines, ensuring compliance with Australian standards and project specs, and coordinating with construction

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in fire systems testing and commissioning, ideally within major infrastructure, tunnels or complex building services environments.
• Strong technical knowledge of fire detection, fire suppression and associated life-safety systems.
• Experience leading commissioning activities across multiple contractors, subcontractors and technical disciplines.
• Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards, regulatory requirements and project specifications.
• Proven ability to develop commissioning plans, test procedures, schedules and supporting documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive issues through to resolution.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work across construction, engineering and project leadership teams.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality, compliance and delivering fully tested and operational systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the testing and commissioning of fire protection and life-safety systems across the T2D project.
• Develop and implement testing and commissioning plans, procedures, schedules and methodologies.

• Manage specialist fire subcontractors, vendors and commissioning resources to ensure activities are delivered safely and efficiently.
• Review testing results, documentation and certification to ensure compliance with project requirements and relevant standards.
• Identify, manage and drive the resolution of commissioning defects, non-conformances and outstanding works.
• Coordinate interfaces between fire systems and other tunnel, electrical, mechanical, controls and life-safety systems.
• Provide technical input into operational readiness, integrated systems testing and emergency response scenarios.
• Support final system handover, including commissioning records, as-built documentation, O&M information and close-out requirements.

The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.

The Role

As the Testing & Commissioning Fire Lead, you will provide technical leadership across the testing, commissioning and handover of fire protection systems, ensuring systems are safely, progressively and successfully brought into operation.

Working closely with construction, engineering, systems, safety, operations and commissioning teams, you will coordinate activities from planning and system readiness through to integrated testing, defect resolution and final handover.

You will be responsible for ensuring testing and commissioning activities are delivered in accordance with project requirements, approved designs, specifications, relevant Australian Standards and commissioning procedures.
