The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.

The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.

The role

Reporting to the M&E (Mechanical and Electrical) Director, the M&E Senior Superintendent will lead the delivery of all mechanical and electrical construction works across the project. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams and specialist subcontractors to ensure complex tunnel and road systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in line with program and quality expectations.

This role plays a key leadership function across the project, coordinating interfaces between civil and M&E works while driving strong safety, productivity, and delivery outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee delivery of M&E works across tunnels, surface roads, bridges, and cut-and-cover structures
  • Supervise and coordinate multidisciplinary teams and specialist subcontractors across multiple work fronts
  • Manage installation and integration of critical tunnel systems, electrical infrastructure, mechanical plant, HVAC, pumping, fire/life safety, and ITS
  • Coordinate interfaces between M&E works and civil/structural construction to ensure program alignment
  • Work with systems integration platforms such as Hexagon to support installation verification and asset integration
  • Ensure all works comply with project drawings, technical specifications, and Australian Standards
  • Champion a zero-harm safety culture, leading inspections, audits, and toolbox briefings
  • Monitor progress, manage risks, and resolve technical or construction issues to maintain delivery targets
  • Support commissioning, testing, and integration of M&E systems across the project
  • Provide reporting, workforce planning, and escalation to senior leadership
About You
  • Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience delivering M&E works on Tier 1 or major infrastructure projects, ideally including tunnelling
  • Strong technical knowledge of tunnel systems, HV/LV electrical distribution, fire/life safety, mechanical plant, HVAC, pumping, and ITS
  • Experience with systems integration platforms such as Hexagon highly regarded
  • Proven ability to lead large teams and manage multiple subcontractors across complex projects
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills with a focus on safety, quality, and program delivery
  • Demonstrated commitment to WHS leadership and compliance on high-risk, high-value construction projects
