Job summary

Quantem, Australia's largest bulk liquid storage company, invites applications for an experienced Operator to join Geelong team. Reporting to Terminal Supervisor, you will oversee day-to-day operations, ensure safety compliance, and manage on-site contractors while maintaining records and following health, safety and environmental policies.

Role emphasises safe, efficient terminal operation, stock control, and adherence to company procedures; willingness to contribute to continuous safety

Qualifications

• A trade qualification in a Mechanical/Technical field would be considered favourably.
• Working with documented Work Instructions and Procedures.
• Working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
• Previous experience in safety management systems (e.g. permit to work).
• Previous training in truck and ship loading, wharf duties.
• Previous experience in chemical handling facility operations.
• Sound understanding of handling dangerous goods and hazardous chemicals.
• Ideally confined space trained.

Responsibilities

• Perform terminal operations including shipping, product transfers, tank gauging, stock control, truck loading and operation of equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, site inspection, documentation, equipment setup and housekeeping.
• Ensure terminal activities align with safety and operational procedures.
• Supervise contract staff and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records to meet legal, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and enforce safety policies.

ABOUT THE POSITION

A permanent full-time opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operator to join our Geelong team.

Reporting to our Terminal Supervisor, this role is responsible for completing all day-to-day terminal operating activities in supporting the safe and efficient operation of our Geelong Terminal. This role will require you to ensure all terminal activities are carried out safely and efficiently, with a strong emphasis on compliance with company policies, especially those related to Health, Safety, and Environment. As part of the position, you will oversee contractors on-site, ensuring they adhere to the highest safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities of the position include:

• Perform all terminal operations including: shipping, product transfers, tank gauging including stock level calculations, stock control, truck loading operations, operating control systems and loading of packaged goods
• Performing general tasks such as: preventative maintenance, site and equipment inspection, site documentation, equipment set up and operation of mobile and stationary equipment and site house keeping
• Ensure all terminal activities align with Quantem's safety, management systems, and operational procedures.
• Supervise contract staff and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records to meet legal, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and enforce safety policies.
