Job summary

Downer in Adelaide is seeking a Communications Technician to install, test, commission, and maintain telecommunications infrastructure within the NBN network. You will safely install, splice, test, and repair equipment while meeting client, safety, quality, and productivity requirements.

To be considered, you should hold a Cert 3 Telecommunications or equivalent, have 3–5 years of telecoms experience, and be capable of working in a team or autonomously with strong communication and safety focus.

Qualifications

• Cert 3 Telecommunications or equivalent.
• 3–5 years experience in Telecommunications Networks.
• Experience with NBN SD1/BDOD Ticket of Works is advantageous.
• Safety-focused mindset and ability to work in a team or autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fault finding, commissioning and integration of NBN equipment.
• Read and follow design plans and install/terminate cables.
• Manage ordering of materials and liaise with stakeholders.
• Provide accurate reporting to construction managers on key issues.

The opportunity

Due to the continued growth, we are seeking a qualified Communications Technician with experience completing BDM/ODMS Ticket of Works within the in the NBN network. This role will require you to safely install, splice, test, commission, maintain, and repair telecommunications infrastructure while meeting all client, safety, quality, and productivity requirements.

About You

• Cert 3 Telecommunications or equivalent
• 3-5 years minimum experience in Telecommunications Networks
• Qualifications in multiple Telecommunications Technologies (Copper, Fibre, HFC, Equipment Installation)
• Previous experience in the NBN network completing SD1 and BDOD Ticket of Works highly regarded
• A meticulous thinker who puts safety first and takes pride in their work
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team or autonomously
• Well-developed communication skills and a commitment to safety

Key Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Conducting fault finding, commissioning and integration of NBN equipment into the NBN network that meets Downer and NBN quality standards
• Reading and following design plans
• Installing and terminating telecommunication cables
• Managing the ordering of materials
• Liaising with stakeholders and providing accurate reporting to construction managers on key issues
