Job summary

Hawkmoon Energy And Communications Pty Ltd in Melbourne is seeking a Telecommunications HFC Network Technician to install, test, and maintain NBN HFC networks, including fibre optic and HFC systems. The role involves fieldwork, customer interaction, and adherence to safety and industry standards.

You will perform fault-finding, diagnose network issues, and work with OTDRs and test equipment while following technical docs and collaborating with engineers.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Telecommunications or Electrical Installations.
• Proven experience in NBN HFC installation, testing, and maintenance.
• Practical experience with OTDRs, fusion splicers, VSE-1100, ONX-630 test equipment and industry tools.
• Understanding of OH&S requirements and ability to work safely in field environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
• High School (Year 12) qualification.
• 3 years experience in Telecommunications.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain new and existing NBN HFC network and related infrastructure.
• Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HFC systems, including modems, RF cabling and customer-premises equipment.
• Conduct fault-finding, diagnostics, and performance testing using multiple types of specialised equipment.
• Interpret network plans, follow technical documentation, and work collaboratively with field engineers and project teams.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OH&S standards, NBN guidelines, and quality requirements.
• Liaise with customers and provide clear, professional communication during installations, upgrades, and service appointments.
• Perform maintenance and installation works on both aerial and underground network infrastructure.
• Performing ISP & OSP tasks will be conducted within the PMUS program project

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Telecommunications HFC Network Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting HFC telecommunications infrastructure, particularly NBN technologies including fibre optic and HFC networks. This role involves fieldwork, diagnostics, customer interaction, and ensuring all work is performed to industry and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

Install, commission, test, and maintain new and existing NBN HFC network and related infrastructure.

About you
