Job summary

Recruitment Hive is seeking a Technology Architect for a major Federal Government department in Canberra. The role focuses on an upgrade program spanning networks, infrastructure and cloud services, including Azure, Linux/Unix, and Windows environments.

The ideal candidate has extensive Federal Government experience, strong strategic planning skills, and ability to align on-prem and cloud strategies while ensuring governance and security controls are met.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience delivering technology, networks and infrastructure projects for Federal Government.
• Minimum 5 years as a Technical Specialist in technology, networks or infrastructure.
• Knowledge of ISM and Essential 8 controls and their application.
• Expert troubleshooting, problem solving and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with Azure cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), Linux/Unix & Windows servers & databases, DNS, NTP, AD, PKI, Exchange, monitoring, logging, automation/CDICD, and VDI.
• Experience assessing and improving ICT disaster recovery capability and DR framework/plan.

Responsibilities

• Develop & document strategies for replacement/upgrade of End of Life & End of Support items including discovery, analysis, recommendation and migration.
• Develop strategies to remediate key infrastructure risks.
• Collaborate with outsourced ICT providers & business owners on planning & implementation of technical strategies.
• Ensure strategies align with client cloud/on-prem models.
• Ensure compliance with governance arrangements for ICT project delivery.

• 7+12 month contract - exclusive backfill
• ACT only - Baseline Security Clearance required

Our client, a major Federal Government department responsible for agriculture, fisheries, forestry, biosecurity and agricultural trade, require the services of a Technology Architect.

Duties of the Technology Architect

• Develop & document strategies for the replacement/upgrade of End of Life & End of Support items including discovery, analysis, recommendation, & migration;
• Developing & documenting strategies to remediate key infrastructure risks;
• Working closely with outsourced ICT providers & business owners on the planning & implementation of technical strategies;
• Ensure strategies & recommendations align with client's cloud/on-prem models;
• Ensure compliance with the relevant governance arrangements associated with delivery of the department’s ICT projects.

Skills and Experience Required

• Extensive experience working in Federal Government;
• At least 5 years’ experience as a Technical Specialist working within technology, networks & /or infrastructure projects;
• Knowledge of or experience implementing ISM & Essential 8 controls;
• Expert troubleshooting, advanced problem solving & diagnostic skills;
• Demonstrated experience with a broad range of infrastructure technologies, including (but not limited to) Azure cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), Linux/Unix & Windows servers & databases & ICT services including DNS, NTP, AD, PKI, Microsoft Exchange, monitoring, logging, automation/CICD, & VDI technologies;
• Demonstrated experience assessing & improving ICT disaster recovery capability, including developing disaster recovery framework/plan & system recovery procedures (desired).
