Job summary

Orica is looking for a hands-on Technician - UG Blasting Equipment to join our Mining Services team. This FIFO role services multiple Australian sites from Adelaide to Sydney, supporting underground blasting machinery, performing maintenance, troubleshooting and commissioning activities.

You will travel across states on 8/6 or 15/13 rosters, providing technical support and training to customers while maintaining strong safety practices and building trusted relationships.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in maintaining mobile or fixed plant equipment.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic or electrical faults.
• Strong problem-solving and independent thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair underground blasting equipment and Hypercharge Drive Units (HcD).
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and system faults on-site.
• Provide technical support to customers on-site and by phone.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimise downtime.
• Perform inspections, servicing and maintenance audits.
• Assist with installing, testing and commissioning new equipment.
• Build relationships with customers through reliable service and support.
• Keep accurate service records and work safely per site requirements.

About the role

We're looking for a hands-on Technician - UG Blasting Equipment (HcD Technician) to join our Mining Services team. This is a FIFO opportunity from any city of Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Kalgoorlie, Sydney, servicing many of our Underground Mining customers across Australia.

In this role, you'll support Orica's underground blasting machinery and customer-operated systems through maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment commissioning, and technical support.

This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically or electrically-minded people looking to apply their skills in a new industry. Whether you are experienced or not, we'll train and support you to develop your knowledge of underground blasting operations and our specialised mining equipment.

Working on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster or a 15 days on, 13 days off roster, you'll fly to Orica locations across a number of states, enjoying a high level of autonomy while providing technical support and training to our valued customers.

What you will be doing

• Service, maintain and repair underground blasting equipment, including Hypercharge Drive Units (HcD).
• Find and fix mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and system faults.
• Provide technical support and advice to customers on-site and over the phone.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and help customers minimise operational downtime.
• Carry out equipment inspections, routine servicing and maintenance audits.
• Assist with installing, testing and commissioning new equipment.
• Build strong relationships with customers through reliable service and support.
• Keep accurate service records and work safely in line with site, customer and Orica requirements.

What you will bring

• Knowledge and skills in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems;
