Job summary

Alexandra Australia is seeking a Technical Product Developer to lead garment development and ensure quality, fit, and workmanship across multiple product categories. You will work with the Founder and Head of Design to drive product development from prototype to bulk production, maintaining tech packs and spec alignment.

Key responsibilities include managing fit processes, grading, and sizing consistency, coordinating with offshore manufacturers, and ensuring on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree or tertiary qualification in Fashion, Textiles, or Garment Technology.

Job description

The Technical Product Developer is responsible for ensuring that all garments are developed and produced to high-quality, fit, and workmanship standards.

This role works closely with the Founder, Head of design and manufacturers to oversee the development of product, sourcing, technical specifications and fit process from initial prototype development to bulk production.

The Technical Product developer will be responsible for garment development and fit process across multiple product categories, ensuring consistency in quality, sizing, grading, and garment construction in line with Alexandra Australia’s brand standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development

Attend product ranging sessions with Founder and Head of Design

Assist Head of Design with sourcing fabrics and trims.

Maintain the organisation of design resources, samples and supplier folders

Create and maintain detailed Tech Packs briefed by the Founder and Head of Design, ensuring accurate specifications for styling, fit, and workmanship for manufacturer handover.

Prepare lab dips, bulk fabric and trims for approval.

Fit Process

Measure all garments at proto sampling, SMS, pre-production, and bulk production stages, ensuring consistency with spec sheets and company standards.

Attend fit sessions with the Founder and Head of Desgn, ensuring samples align with design briefs and delivery timelines.

Contribute technical advice regarding fit and construction requirements.

Compile and document detailed fit comments after each session, ensuring necessary amendments are made for the next sample stage.

Create and update graded size specifications following Alexandra grading charts across all product categories, ensuring brand consistency.

Maintain consistency of sizing and quality across multiple manufacturers.

Communicate fit, construction, and quality feedback directly with offshore manufacturers.

Liaise with manufacturers on sizing, fit, grading, and workmanship adjustments.

Ensure suppliers comply with labelling, packaging, and branding requirements across all production stages.

Assist in ensuring key deadlines (development, fit approvals, and bulk production milestones) are met.

Quality Control & Assurance

Conduct thorough QC inspections across all stages, ensuring fabric, trims, and construction meet approved standards.

Ensure garments meet grading, fit, and quality specifications, adjusting when necessary to improve consistency.

Assist in the development of a block library, maintaining fit consistency across product categories.

Ensure all garments are production-ready, with accurate Tech Packs, graded specs, and Bill of Materials (BOM) documentation.

Documentation & System Management

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date tech packs in the PLM system
• Keep Bill of materials (BOMs) updated with labelling, packaging, and trim requirements.
• Conduct administrative tasks related to manufacturer documentation, tracking, and approvals.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Degree or tertiary qualification in Fashion, Textiles, or Garment Technology.

2+ years of experience as a Product Developer or Garment Technician in the fashion industry.

Good knowledge of garment construction, specifications, grading, and quality assurance (pattern-making experience is a bonus).

Experience across multiple product categories, with knowledge of woven and stretch fabrics.

Proficiency in Excel, and PLM systems (or similar production software).

Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring high technical standards are maintained.

Experience working with offshore manufacturers is highly desirable.

Excellent communication skills to manage manufacturer relationships effectively.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines while ensuring quality standards.

A collaborative and team-oriented approach, working closely with the Founder and Head of Design.

Strong organisational and time-management skills
