Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti invites applications for an experienced Mine Services Technician at the Tropicana Gold Mine on a 6-month fixed-term FIFO roster from Perth and Kalgoorlie.

You will support the Dewatering and Services team, install and maintain in-pit sump pumps, perform pipe welding and relocate equipment, and liaise with stakeholders to optimise water flows. A trade qualification and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in a related field or equivalent willingness to develop.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
• Experience with mining dewatering equipment and diesel pumps is preferred.
• HDPE welding experience (butt and extrusion) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Daily installation and removal of in-pit sump pumps for site operations.
• Pipe welding and dewatering/pump infrastructure installation and relocation.
• Maintenance of polyethylene pipe systems and related components.
• Monitor dewatering systems, dams, standpipes, tanks and pumping stations.
• Record keeping, inspections, and organisation of consumables.
• Supervise and monitor mining contractors on site.

The Opportunity

We are now seeking an experienced Mine Services Technician to join our wider Projects and Infrastructureteam at the Tropicana Gold Mine for a 6 month fixed term contract.

Reporting to the Water Management and Infrastructure Supervisor, the purpose of this role is to provide support to the multidisciplinary Dewatering and Services team to ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainable operations. The position will be offered on an 8 days on/6 days off FIFO roster from Perth and/or Kalgoorlie.

About the Role

• Daily installation and removal of in-pit sump pumps as required for site operations
• Pipe welding, and dewatering/pump infrastructure installation and relocation
• Minor maintenance to fabricate, repair, and relocate new and existing Polyethylene pipe of various sizes using butt welding and electrofusion techniques
• Monitor and maintain the dewatering systems, including but not limited to dams, standpipes, diesel pumps, tanks, and in-pit pumping stations
• Daily inspections, record keeping, and maintenance
• Organisation of consumables
• Inspection, escort, and monitoring of mining operations contractors
• Liaise with various stakeholders to optimise water flows
• Operation of ancillary equipment within the mining area
• Data entry and maintenance of relevant records

About You

• Trade qualified in a related field (Fitter, Boilermaker, Mechanical, Plumber), or willing to consider other relevant qualifications
• Be a self-starter with a dedicated commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
• Excellent problem-solving, people, and communication skills
• Previous experience with mining dewatering and diesel pump equipment is preferred
• HDPE welding experience (butt welding and extrusion welding)
• Knowledge of SAP systems desirable
• Basic computer and software skills
• C Class Driver's Licence, with an HR licence being highly advantageous
