Job summary

IT Alliance Australia seeks a Senior Technical Writer for a 12-month contract in Canberra. You will consolidate, update, create and maintain technical design documentation across multiple program streams.

Collaborate with architects, SMEs, PMs, and asset management to ensure accuracy and alignment with templated models, translating complex concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.

Job description

One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Senior Technical Writer. This is a long-term contractual position.

Contract Duration: 12 months

Work Location: Canberra (03 Days office/02 Days home per week)

Position Description

Consolidate, update, create and maintain all types of technical design documentation across multiple program streams.

• Collaborate with architects, Subject matter experts (SMEs), project managers, and asset management specialists to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
• Consolidate, update, create and maintain documentation for system design following templated models for conceptual and detailed designs based on input from existing documents and technical/architecture SMEs.
• Translate technical concepts into clear, accessible content for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Assist teams to create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for junior staff skills transfer, after hours team reference and to ensure consistency of processes and tasking.
• Produce governance‑compliant technical documentation packs for boards, design authorities, and change forums.
• Apply version control, documentation standards, and metadata requirements for auditability.
