Job summary

CBRE is seeking a capable engineer to lead a trading team across Tullamarine and Woodend, acting as the contract's engineering authority in a GMP-regulated setting. You will ensure compliance, plan major works, and drive asset reliability with subcontractors and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Multidisciplinary engineering breadth across mechanical, electrical, fire, water and utilities.
• Working knowledge of GMP-regulated environments and the evidentiary standard for audit/validation/regulator scrutiny.
• Ability to operate under dual Comcare and Victorian OHS jurisdiction and reconcile them into one compliance position.
• Root-cause diagnostic capability for faults across trades.

Responsibilities

• Manage trade staff, finalize and approve schedules, assign PPMs, and lead daily pre-start meetings.
• Verify licences, training, permits and isolations are in place before work begins.
• Apply engineering judgement across systems to understand how faults interact between trades.
• Own the compliance register and reconcile OHS requirements for practical outcomes.
• Ensure faults are resolved at root cause, not just patched.
• Test repair quotes/scopes/maintenance frequencies before approval to ensure cost effectiveness.
• Oversee specialist subcontractors, inspect their work and review reports/SWMS.
• Plan major works and shutdowns, define plant boundaries, lead asset reliability program.
• Maintain evidence/studies to withstand audit and regulator scrutiny in GMP environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage trade staff, finalise and approve schedules, assign PPMs, and lead daily pre-start meetings that set priorities, risks and expectations for the shift.
• Verify licences, training, permits and isolations are in place before work begins, rather than relying on after-the-fact checks.
• Apply multidisciplinary engineering judgement across mechanical, electrical, fire, water and utilities systems, so faults and risks are understood in terms of how they interact between trades.
• Own the compliance register, interpret applicable standards, and reconcile the dual Comcare and Victorian OHS jurisdiction into one practical compliance outcome.
• Ensure recurring or significant faults are resolved at root cause rather than repeatedly patched.
• Technically test repair quotes, scopes and maintenance frequencies before approval, so CSL pays for the right fix at the right price.
• Own specialist subcontractor relationships, inspect and supervise their work, and scrutinise programmes, reports, certifications and SWMS.
• Plan major works including shutdowns, define the CBRE and CSL plant boundary, and lead the asset reliability programme.
• Maintain evidence and documentation to a standard that would withstand audit, validation or regulator scrutiny in the GMP-regulated environment.
