Job summary

CBRE Local invites you to join a leadership role overseeing a trades team across Tullamarine and Woodend, serving as the contract’s engineering authority. You will drive daily priorities, safety, compliance, and asset reliability within a GMP-regulated environment.

The ideal candidate brings multidisciplinary engineering breadth and a strong focus on root-cause resolution, dual-regulatory compliance knowledge, and effective subcontractor management.

Qualifications

• Breadth across mechanical, electrical, fire, water and utilities to lead diagnosis across trades.
• Working knowledge of GMP-regulated environments and evidentiary standards for audit, validation and regulator scrutiny.
• Ability to operate under dual Comcare and Victorian OHS jurisdiction and reconcile into one practical compliance position.
• Root-cause diagnostic capability to prevent recurring faults.

Responsibilities

• Lead a trades team across Tullamarine and Woodend and act as the contract’s engineering authority.
• Verify licences, training, permits and isolations before work begins.
• Apply multidisciplinary engineering judgement across systems to understand interactions between trades.
• Own the compliance register and reconcile standards for practical outcomes.
• Ensure faults are resolved at root cause rather than patching.
• Test repair quotes, scopes and maintenance frequencies before approval.
• Own specialist subcontractor relationships, inspect work and scrutinise programmes, reports and SWMS.
• Plan major works including shutdowns and lead the asset reliability programme.
• Maintain documentation to withstand audit and regulator scrutiny in GMP environments.

As a Technical manager you will lead a trades team across Tullamarine and Woodend whilst acting as the contract’s engineering authority.

Here is a snapshot of your day:

• Manage trade staff, finalise and approve schedules, assign PPMs, and lead daily pre-start meetings that set priorities, risks and expectations for the shift.
• Verify licences, training, permits and isolations are in place before work begins, rather than relying on after-the-fact checks.
• Apply multidisciplinary engineering judgement across mechanical, electrical, fire, water and utilities systems, so faults and risks are understood in terms of how they interact between trades.
• Own the compliance register, interpret applicable standards, and reconcile the dual Comcare and Victorian OHS jurisdiction into one practical compliance outcome.
• Ensure recurring or significant faults are resolved at root cause rather than repeatedly patched.
• Technically test repair quotes, scopes and maintenance frequencies before approval, so CSL pays for the right fix at the right price.
• Own specialist subcontractor relationships, inspect and supervise their work, and scrutinise programmes, reports, certifications and SWMS.
• Plan major works including shutdowns, define the CBRE and CSL plant boundary, and lead the asset reliability programme.
• Maintain evidence and documentation to a standard that would withstand audit, validation or regulator scrutiny in the GMP-regulated environment.

• Multidisciplinary engineering breadth across mechanical, electrical, fire, water and utilities, sufficient to lead diagnosis and decision-making across trades.
• Working knowledge of GMP-regulated environments and the evidentiary standard required for audit, validation and regulator scrutiny.
• Ability to operate under the dual Comcare and Victorian OHS jurisdiction and reconcile them into one practical compliance position.
