Job summary

Bendigo Bank is seeking a skilled Technology Product Owner to lead the Financial Crime Technology team. You will shape the technical roadmap and own the product backlog to protect customers from financial crime.

Collaborating with Financial Crime, Data Platforms and Engineering, you will translate business needs into detailed user stories and ensure regulatory alignment with a strong AML/CTF background and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Experience within AML/CTF and Financial Crime prevention landscape with knowledge of KYC, Sanctions Screening and detection systems.
• Experience with big data environments, data pipelines, data quality and lineage.
• Experience in a Product Owner or similar role with Agile principles, backlog management, and roadmap development.
• Familiarity with the Australian financial services regulatory landscape is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a robust technical roadmap for Financial Crime platforms aligning with business strategy and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement of Financial Crime platforms and oversee system health and low-latency/high-accuracy processing.
• Own and prioritise the product backlog translating high level business requirements into detailed user stories.
• Partner with Financial Crime, Data Platforms and Engineering teams to ensure technical changes are viable, compliant and aligned with the roadmap.

Job description

We are looking for a skilled Technology Product Owner, to lead our Financial Crime Technology team. You will be pivotal in shaping the technical roadmap and managing the product backlog to protect our customers and the bank from financial crime.

You will collaborate closely with various teams, including Financial Crime, Data Platforms, and Engineering, to enhance our detection systems and ensure they meet strategic and regulatory needs. You will bring a wealth of experience in the AML/CTF and Financial Crime landscape, a strong understanding of big data environments, and proven experience in a Technology Product Owner role.

In this role you’ll get to…

• Define and execute a robust technical roadmap for Financial Crime platforms, aligning engineering efforts with business strategy and regulatory requirements.

What you’ll bring to the role

To be successful in the role you will have:

• Experience within the AML/CTF and the Financial Crime prevention landscape with a deep understanding of platforms used to support Know Your Customer (KYC), Sanctions Screening and Financial Crime detection.
• Experience with big data environments with a strong understanding of data pipelines, data quality and lineage standards.
• Experience in a Product Owner or similar role, with a strong understanding of Agile principles, backlog management, and roadmap development.
• Familiarity with the Australian financial services regulatory landscape is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
